Towel Steamers
Clean the heating element using a mixture of 3 parts water and 2 parts white vinegar. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then drain and wipe down the unit.
Take a photo of the heating element. A faulty element typically turns a darker brown. If so, the heating element will need to be replaced.
Often caused by the heating element and sensor not detecting water. Follow these steps:
- Clean the unit thoroughly.
- If the issue persists, test on a different outlet.
- If it still won't power on, the heating element is likely out and needs replacement.
- Confirm water levels are adequate.
- Check for any blockage on the sensor probe on the heating element — if blocked, clean the unit.
- If cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, the temperature detection sensor will need to be replaced.
Pedicure Spas
- Disconnect the sprayer head from the hose and test water flow from the hose alone.
- If water flows from the hose, remove the backflow preventer from the sprayer head.
- If no water comes from the hose, contact a plumber — the unit itself is not receiving water.
- If you have a second unit, swap the jet head between spas to isolate the problem.
- If the swapped jet head also fails, inspect the green impeller on the magnetic piece. If it is clean, replace the jet head.
- If the jet head is fine, unplug the jet from the control box and plug it directly into a wall outlet.
- If the motor doesn't work on direct power, replace the jet motor. If it does, check the air hose connection to the control box.
Check which functions still respond:
- If some functions work — replace the mainboard.
- If no functions work — replace the remote.
Undo the elastic cover on the chair and run the massage functions. If a motor does not respond, it will need to be replaced.
- Undo the elastic cover and manually push the massage mechanism back to the top — this is the manual reset position.
- If the chair still does not respond, check other massage functions.
- If other functions work, replace the roller motor.
- If no functions respond, the mainboard will need to be swapped.
Barber / Styling Chairs
- Small amounts: Bleed the chair overnight — raise to max height, leave approx. 25 lbs on it overnight to release excess oil.
- Large amounts: The pump will need to be replaced.
If the pump does not raise or lowers on its own, the pump will need to be replaced.
- If the recline does not activate, tighten the nut on the front of the gas spring.
- If the chair reclines without using the handle, the gas spring needs to be replaced.
Try lifting the pedal upward. If it works when lifted, the pedal was installed backwards — simply reinstall it in the correct orientation.
Backwash Units
- Confirm the drain hose hand screw is fully tightened.
- If still leaking, remove the hose and inspect the black gasket between the hand screw and the drain.
- If the leak is from the drain cup itself, unscrew the drain and adjust the rubber gasket.
Head Spa / Portable Head Spa
The head therapy will not turn on while the sprayer function is active. Turn off the sprayer before starting head therapy.
- Confirm the plug for head therapy has been removed.
- Check that the bowl is filled with water.
- Listen for motor noise — if no noise, the motor needs to be replaced.
- If the motor is running but no water flows, check the line for a clog.
- Confirm the storage container has water.
- If it does, check the back filter — in most cases it is clogged and needs to be cleaned.
Sterilizers
- Check that the bulb is fully and securely connected.
- If fully connected and still not functioning, replace the bulb.
The door must be fully closed for the unit to start its sterilization cycle. Ensure the door is completely shut and try again.
Pedicure / Technician Stools
If the stool lowers on its own and cannot maintain height, the pump is no longer holding pressure and will need to be replaced.
